Fry hamburger & season w salt, pepper and italian season. Remove from pan. Fry sausage after you have taken case off. Remove from pan. Add next 5 ingredients. Saute until veg are soft. Add hamburger and sausage. Add Tomato paste and stir. Add Spaghetti sauce, plum tomatos & wine. Bring to boil and then simmer. Add sugar, anise, italian seasoning, salt & pepper to taste. Simmer for at least an hour before making lasagna.
Ricotta filling:
Mix ricotta cheese with 1 1/2 c. chopped spinach, 1/2 c. fresh grated Parm or Asiago or romano cheese, some grated pepper and 1 tsp. Italian seasoning.
