     Sugar Crisp Tea Macaroons

Ingredients
1 cup shortning
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated suger
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 unbeaten eggs
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup coconut
1 1/4 cups flour
 
1 tsp baking soda
3 cups Quaker Oats
colored sugar

Instructions
Combine and beat thoroughly shortening, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, almond extract and eggs. Stir in walnuts and coconut.
Sift together and stir in flour and baking soda. Add oats.
Mix well and chill. Shape in small balls. Roll in colored sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet and back at 350 deg for 12 minutes. Do not over bake.
Cool about 2 minutes on pan. Do not leave too long or they will get crispy and break.
