     Alberta Chocolate Cake-'good'

2 cups sugar
3/4 c shortening or half butter & shortening
2 eggs
1 c buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 c sifted all purpose flour
2 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 c unsifted cocoa
1 c boiling water

Cream shortening, add sugar, add unbeaten eggs one at a time. Beat well after each addition. Add vanilla to milk. Add salt, soda, and cocoa to flour which has been sifted. Alternate milk and flour. Alternating begins and ends with flour. Add boiling water all at once. Blend well.
Bake in 2-9 inch layer at 350 degrees for 25-30 min. or 1-12in. layer at 325 degrees for 40-50 min.
