     Karen's Chili Recipe

Ingredients
2 pounds ground beef
1 quart tomato juice
1 (29 oz) can tomato puree
1 (15 oz) can red beans, drained
1 medium onion, chopped (about 1 ½ cups)
1/2 cup celery, diced
1/4 cup green pepper, diced
1/4 cup chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin (or to taste if you like the flavor)
 
1 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon each: black pepper, oregano, and sugar
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions
Brown the ground beef; drain grease. Put the ground beef and the remaining ingredients into a good sized pot. Cover the pot; let it simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, stirring frequently.
