Sift together all dry ingredients. Mix wet ingredients and slowly add to dry mixture.

Pour batter into 2 prepared 8 inch layer pans. Bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Insert toothpick to check for doneness after 20 minutes.

Note Do not overbake. Most chocolate cakes lack sufficient moisture due to prolonged baking time.
|
|
|
Transfer to wire racks for cooling. Frost cake with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting.
