     Creamed Onions

Ingredients
2 lbs small onions (I have used canned, but fresh is better)
2 Tbl oil
2 Tbl flour
2 C milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 tsp cayenne pepepr
1/2 tsp dried thyme
bread crumbs
 

Instructions
Boil or steam onions
In heavy saucepan, heat 2 Tbl oil. Blend in flour over low heat - do not brown. Add seasonings, stir as you add milk, bring to a boil
Reduce heat - cook one minute more. Add drained onions. Place in oiled casserole dish. Top with buttered bread crumbs
Bake in 350 oven for 20 minutes
