Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Put flour, baking powder and salt in mixing bowl, blend thoroughly. Cut in lard and pour in buttermilk, stir quickly till dough is blended and begins to mass.
Turn immediately on floured surface and knead briskly 8-10 strokes. Gently flatten into a disk about 1/2 inch thick. With a fork dipped in flour, pierce dough through completely at 1/2 inch intervals.
Cut into biscuits and transfer to a greased skillet. Bake 10-12 minutes and when golden brown, brush tops with melted butter.
