     Pound Cake

1 1/2 lbs butter
3 cups sugar
15 eggs
3 tablespoons vanilla
1 1/2 teaspoons mace
6 cups sifted cake flour

Cut circles of parchment paper to fit bottom of 1 8inch spring form pan. Grease paper and sides of springform pan. Set aside. Cream butter, gradually add sugar and mix until fluffy. Add eggs, 2 at a time, beating well. Stir in vanilla and mace. Sift flour twice and gradually add to batter, beating until smooth. Spoon batter into prepared pans and palce on middle shelf of over. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 15 mins. Cool cake 10 mins, then remove from pans and place on racks until cooled. Before icing, gently rub off the skin on top and sides, brushing off loose crumbes, so icing will go on smoothly.
