     Buttermilk Scones

Ingredients
2 cups of unsifted all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
2 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
5 tablespoons of shortening
3/4 cup of buttermilk
 

Instructions
Sift the dry ingredients together. Then With a pastry cutter, cut in shortening.
Add buttermilk and mix with a fork until moistened. Next separate into 2 portions.
Roll each portion into a round on a floured surface into about 1/ 2 inch thick. Cut into triangle shapes.
Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 mins, or until they are nicely browned. Makes abou 12 scones.
Serving Suggestions
You must serve them hot.
