Ingredients
1 cup lard - a little more to grease baking sheet
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup molasses
1 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda mixed with a little hot water
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon carraway seed
1 teaspoon ginger
 
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
enough flour to make thick dough ( about 4 cups)
1 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions
Mix baking soda with a litte hot water, then add all ingrediants except flour. Mix well. Add flour to get a stiff dough.
Knead dough a little to get a smooth dough. Chill half hour or more.
Flour board and rolling pin, and roll out dough 1/4 inch thick.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 350 degrees 10-15 minutes, until just golden at the edges.
