     Sweet and Sour Sauce

Ingredients
1/2 c. ketsup
3/4 c. water
1/2 c. white vinegar
1 3/4 c. sugar
juice of 2 lemons
2 tsp. cornstarch
1/4 c. water
1/4 tsp. fresh ginger root, minced
red food coloring
 

Instructions
In a small bowl mix cornstarch with 1/4c. water, set aside. In a saucepan put first 5 ingredients and bring to a boil. Add cornstarch mixture. Simmer 1 minute to cook the cornstarch, keep simmering until thickened, you may need to add more cornstarch. Add a few drops of red food coloring at the end for looks.
This is sweet and sour sauce for sweet and sour chicken. I got this recipe from a friend that cooks asian food all the time, it is the best I've used.
Serving Suggestions
chicken and fried rice.
