2 cups elbow macaroni

3 litres boiling water
|

2 tsp salt

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/3 cup butter or margarine

3T flour
|

1/2 tsp salt

1/8 tsp pepper
|
|
1/4 tsp paprika
|
|

2 1/4 cups milk
|
|
2 cups medium cheddar cheese, grated

1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
|

2 T butter or margarine, melted

Instructions |
|
|
Cook the macaroni in salted boiling water until tender but firm, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain.
|

|
Sauce onion in butter until clear and soft. Sprinkle onion with flour, salt, pepper and paprika. Mix well.
|
|
|
Stir in milk and cheese until it boils and thickens and cheese melts. Add macaroni. Stir. Turn into greased 2 quart casserole.
|
|
|
Mix bread crumbs with melted butter and scatter over top of the macaroni. Bake, uncovered, at 350F oven for about 30 minutes or until heated through.
