Ingredients
3 cups brown sugar
3 cups sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted
2 eggs
1/2 cup Karo syrup
1 cup water
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
 
2 teaspoon anise oil (or 6 teaspoon extract) you can use any flavor you like (I used peppermint)
1 cup finely chopped pecans, or walnuts, or almonds
1 teaspoon baking powder
10 cups flour (might need more)

Instructions
MIX together brown sugar, sugar, butter, eggs, Karo syrup, and water. Add cloves, ginger, cinnamon, anise oil, nuts, baking powder, and flour. When the dough becomes hard to beat, roll out onto the counter and knead mixing in extra flour until it is of the consistency to roll out into long thin rolls. Chill. Can leave overnight in the refrigerator.
PREHEAT oven to 375 degrees Farenheit. Slice into 1 inch or smaller pieces.
BAKE for 16 minutes. When cooled the centers should be hard, not soft like other cookies. These will last a long time stored in glass jars or plastic.
