Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place fish in shallow baking dish.
Saute onions and mushrooms in butter in skillet until mushrooms release their liquid and onions are translucent. Add flour; stir and cook 1 minute. Add broth and cream and bring to a boil. Add cheese and stir to melt thoroughly.
Pour sauce over fish and sprinkle almonds over the top. Bake uncovered 20 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork.
