Crock Pot Apple Butter

Category   Sauces
Sub Category   None

Ingredients
-
14 apples
-
2 cups apple juice
-
For each pint measured after cooking add-
-
1 cup sugar
-
1 teaspoon cinnamon
-
1/2 teaspoon allspice
-
1/2 teaspoon cloves

Instructions
Wash apples and quarter, no need to peel. (If you are using little apples, just fill the crockpot). Place in a lightly oiled crockpot. I just spray with Pam. Cook on low for about 8 hours, or overnight. Can be cooked on high until the fruit is tender.
Put fruit through a mill to remove seeds and peel. Measure and return to crockpot. For each pint add the spices and sugar listed above. Cook on high 6-8 hours, stirring every 2. Remove the lid after 3 hours to allow to cook down.
Spoon in hot jars and lids and process. Makes about 5 1/2 pints. We first made this in the fall of 2005, when Rudy and JoAnn gave us a huge box of apples. It is good in pumpkin pie.
