Preheat oven to 370-375 degrees.
Beat sugar and butter until well blended and creamy. Add eggs, one at a time until well blended. Add vanilla. In a separate bowl, blend flour, baking soda and salt. Add dry mixture into wet mixture slowly, until well blended. Add desired filling items.
