Ingredients
4 cups flour
1 cake yeast
1 and 1/4 cup lukewarm water
powdered sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. oil
1 tsp. Mahlab (pounded or ground)
 

Instructions
Mix the flour, salt, yeast, oil, Mahleb, and water together. Kneading until the ingredients take on the softness of the dough. Let the dough sit in the bowl to rise for about 1 hour.
Cut into strips about 2 inches wide and 6 inches long. Fry in a skillet of hot oil until golden brown on both sides. Sprinkle with sugar and serve hot.
