     Baked Beans

Ingredients
2 c. dry navy beans
6 c. water
1/4 lb. bacon
1 1/2 teas. salt
1/2 onion
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 teas. mustard
1/2 c. dark corn syrup
 

Instructions
Wash and drain beans. Put beans and water in large pot, bring to boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Cover and let stand for one hour.
Cut bacon in pieces and add to beans. Add salt. Boil gently about 1 1/2 hours until beans are tender. Add more water if needed. Drain and save cooking water. Put beans in baking pan.
Chop onions. Mix with brown sugar, mustard, syrup and 1/2c. of bean cooking water. Pour over beans.
Bake at 350 about one hour until beans are lightly browned on top and sauce thickens.
