     Oatmeal Cake

Ingredients
1 cup quick cooking oats
1-1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1-1/3 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
 
1/2 tsp salt
5 Tbsp butter, melted
1/4 cup cream or canned milk
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions
In large bowl, pour boiling water over oats and let cool.
In medium bowl, cream shortening, 1 cup brown sugar and granulated sugar. Add eggs, flour, cinnamon, soda, and salt. Mix well and add to oats.
Bake in 350 oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
Mix melted butter, cream, 1/2 cup brown sugar, vanilla, and nuts. When cake is done, pour over while still hot and place under broiler until brown.
