     Pan -baked Beans

Ingredients
1 Lb dry navy beans
1 Lb sliced bacon cut up
2 cups chopped onion(2 large)
1 cup ketchup
1 cup molasses
3 Tbls yellow mustard
2 tsp crushed dried oregano(optional)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
 

Instructions
Rinse and drain beans.In 4-6qt pot,combine beans and 8 cups water.Bring to boiling;reduce heat.Simmer uncovered for 2 minutes.Remove from heat cover and let stand for 1 hour.Drain and rinse beans.
In pot cook bacon and onion til bacon is crisp.Drain fat.Add the beans and 6 cups fresh water.Bring to boiling,reduce heat.Simmer,covered 1 1/4-1 1/2 hours or til beans are tender,stirring occasionally.
Stir in the ketchup,molasses,mustard,oregano(if desired),salt and pepper.Bring to boiling;reduce heat.Simmer,uncovered,30-45 minutes or til beans are desired consistency,stirring occasionally
