     Apple Dumplings

Ingredients
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup lard (or shortening)
 

Instructions
Mix together as for pie crust. Roll out and cut into 4 to 8 pieces.
Place a handful of peeled, sliced apples, a teaspoon of sugar and a little cinnamon on each square. Pull dough up and over apples and pinch together.
Bake at 350 until almost done, then add sauce (below) and bake 10 to 15 minutes more.
Sauce- Combine 2 cups sugar and 2 heaping tablespoons flour. Mix together and add 2 cups water. Cook until thick and add 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Pour over dumplings. Makes 10 to 12.
