Stir together flour, soda, and salt. In mixer bowl beat together butter and shortening on medium for 30 secs. Add surgars and beat til fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well. Add dry ingredients beating well. Stir in chocolate and nuts. (may be easier to mix with clean hands)
