1 tbsp dried Italian herbs, (or 1 tsp each oregano,
basil, thyme)
12 oz can beer (at room temp)
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1 tbsp shortening
3 tbsp cornmeal
2 tbsp soft butter or margarine.
Instructions
In large miing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cheese and dried herbs. Mix well to combine.
Stir in beer to produce a stiff batter.
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Grease loaf-pan with the shortening, and spinkle bottom and sides with the cornmeal.
Turn batter into pan. Bake at 325° for about 65 minutes.
Brush baked loaf with softened butter, and sprinkle with additional cornmeal if desired.
Turn out out on cool on rack.
