     Alton Brown's Baked Brown Rice

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups brown rice, medium or short grain
2 1/2 cups of water
1 tablespoon unsalted butter or olive oil
1 teaspoon of kosher salt
minced garlic and/or chopped onion (optional)
 

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375.
Place rice into an 8 inch square glass baking dish. Bring water, butter/oil, salt (and garlic and onion if you are using it) to boil in a covered saucepan. Once the water boils, pour it over the rice, stir to combine, and cover teh dih tightly with aluminum foil.
Bake on the middle rack for one hour. After one hour, remove cover and fluff the rice with a fork. Serve immediately.
