     Crockpot Bolognese Sauce

1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 pound Italian sausage
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 small carrot, grated
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 large clove garlic, crushed
1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes
2 cans tomato paste
1 tsp sugar
1 tblspn chopped oregano
1 tblspn chopped basil
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 cup dry red wine

In a large skillet, brown ground beef and sausage, breaking up while the meat cooks. Add onion, carrot, and celery after about 5 minutes; cook until onion is just tender. Drain well. Transfer the meat mixture to the slow cooker. Add the remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on LOW setting 5 to 7 hours.
