My house is on a mountain, deep in the woods. We are surrounded by ferns, moss, trees, and most importantly; blackberry bushes. Most people weed whack them out of their yards but my family practically farms them. In late July/ early August the weeds grow juicy black berries that can beeasily plucked if you know how to avoid the sticker bushes. After spending a couple hours or so collecting eight cups of the fruit, the berries are washed and rinsed. They are then mixed with a cup of sugar, 1/3 cup flour, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Once the mixture is complete it goes into a fresh pie crust, then sprinkled with lots and lots of teaspoons of butter. The wait for the pie to come out of the oven can seem like decades but it is only 35-40 minutes in a 400 oven. You know it is done when the berries start to bubble through the slits in the pie crust and you can't help but drool when you look at it through the oven door.
