Instructions
Every holiday or whenever we were having company over, my mom would usually prepare some Galbi. Galbi is commonly known as Korean BBQ in America. There are several types of Galbi, but the one my mom makes often is called LA Galbi. Once prepared, my dad and I usually go outside and throw it on the grill. The smell of the sweetly marinated short ribs, sizzling over the grill makes everyone hungry, waiting to eat.
The marinate is prepared by pouring Korean soy sauce into a blender with lemon-lime soda, freshly diced garlic and green onion, and sugar. The marinate is the mixed and ready to be used.
The short ribs are prepared by washing them under running water to removed excess fat from the meat. Once finished the short ribs are neatly and evenly stacked in a container. The marinate is then poured into the container, directly over the short ribs. The Galbi is then left to marinate over night or if needed soon, several hours.
Once the marination is complete the Galbi can be placed on the grill to be cooked.
