     Crescent Rolls

Ingredients
1 3/4 cups lukewarm water
1 pkg dry yeast
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening, melted and cooled
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp salt
5 cups flour (may use little more)
 

Instructions
Mix first three ingredients and let stand for five minutes. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well. Turn into a greased bowl and let rise until double in bulk. Punch down; divide into eight parts.
Roll each part into a circle and divide into eighths or sixths. Brush with melted butter; starting with wide end roll into crescents.
Let rise again until doubled in bulk. Bake in 400 degree oven for 12 minutes or until golden brown
May leave dough in refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. VARIATION- Mix 1 cup ground nuts, 1/4 cup sugar and enough milk to make a paste. Cook over medium heat to scalding, simmer until pasty. Spread over triangles and roll into crescents. Let rise and bake as above.
