Preheat oven to 350F. Cream together sugar and shortening. Add egg and molasses. Mix in dry ingredients adding flour last.

Drop by spoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with glass dipped in sugar.

|
|
Bake for 10 minutes until edges begin to crack. Do NOT overbake or the cookie will get hard.
|
|
|
Soft, chewy and delicious!
