     Crunchy Caramel Apple Pie

Ingredients
1 pastry crust for 9-inch deep dish pie
1/2 cup sugar
3 T flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
1 recipe crumb topping
6 cups thinly sliced peeled apples
1/4 cup caramel topping
pecans (opt)
 

Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place pie crust in pie plate - set aside. In large mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cinnamon & salt. Add apple slices and gently toss until coated. Transfer apple mixtures to pie plate. Gently press crumb topping over apple mixtures.
Crumb topping- 1 cup packed brown sugar; 1/2 cup flour; 1/2 cup butter, softened; 1/2 cup quick cooking rolled oats. Stir together until coarse crumbs.
Place pie on cookie sheet to avoid dripping. Cover edges of pie with aluminum foil. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 25-30 minutes.
Remove from oven. Sprinkle with toasted chopped pecans and drizzle with caramel topping. Cool on wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature with whipped cream or ice cream.
