In 4 qt pan, over medium heat cook bacon until crisp. Remove to paper towel to drain. Once drained, crumble and set aside.
Add onion & celery to bacon grease. Increase heat to med high and cook about 5 minutes or until soft. Add potatoes and 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to med low, cover & simmer 10 - 15 mins or until potatoes are tender.
Stir in milk and cream. increase heat to med. Return soup to simmer. Stir in crab meat. Cook about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until crabmeat is heated.
Stir in salt, red pepper and crumbled bacon. (Can use chili powder if you don't have red pepper, but NOT to much.)
