     Peppermint Cookies

Ingredients
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
3/4 butter flavor CRISCO stick or 3/4 cup butter flavor CRISCO shortening
2 tbsp milk
1 tbsp vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp baking soda
2/3 cup crushed pepperming candy canes or peppermint candies
 

Instructions
Heat - oven to 275F Combine - brown sugar, CRISCO shortening, milk, and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Beat egg into creamed mixture.
Combine - flour, salt and baking soda. Mix into creamed mixture at low speed just until blended. Stir in crushed candy. Shape - dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies or 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies. Do not overbake. Cook 2 minutes on baking sheet. Remove cookies to rack to cool completely.
------For crushed candy, place candy in a plastic food storage bag. Secure the top and run a rolling pin over the bag of candy to break into very small pieces
