Spray slow cooker with nonfat cooking spray. Place into the cooker the pork tenderloin, barbecue sauce and onion. Make sure the meat is completely covered in the sauce.

Cover and cook on low for 7-9 hours. Remove the meat. With two forks pull across the grain of the meat to shred it. Return the torn meat to the slow cooker.

Stir the meat until it is saturated in barbecue sauce. Place 1/3 cup barbecue on each bun. Top with cheese, if desired.

Barbecue Chicken Sandwiches- Substitute 2 lbs boneless chicken breasts with all the fat removed for the pork tenderloin.
Barbecue Beef Sandwiches- Substitute 2 lbs of eye of round beef with all the fat removed for the pork tenderloin.
