     Sandy's Gingersnaps

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
3/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg slightly beaten
sugar
 

Instructions
Mix first 6 ingredients. cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in molasses and egg.
Preheat oven to 350. shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven promptly. cool on sheets a few minutes, then remove to wire rack.
