In a heavy saucepan over medium heat stir together sugar,cornsyrup and water till sugar is dissovled. Do not stir after this point. Cook til it reaches 250F (hard ball). while syrup is cooking beat the egg whites till stiff peaks form. Once the mixture reaches 250F carefull pour into the eggwhites a slow stream beating constatly while pouring at high speed. Add the vanilla and beat untill mixture holds its shape. Drop onto waxpaper. You will have to work fast. If you want pecans stir them in quick. I usually just add a pecan half on top of each piece.
