In a medium pot, mix together sugar and cornstarch. Add enough water to reserved pineapple juice to measure 1 cup. Stir syrup mixture, vinegar, and Ketchup into cornstarch mixture. Stir until thickens, stir in pineapple. Do not add Green peppers until meatballs are ready, this will help keep them crispy.
Chop up bread in a food processor until fine crumbs. In a medium bowl mix together hamburger, bread, egg, cloves, and salt and pepper. Mix well. Roll into large meatballs and brown them on all sides. Add to pineapple mixture. When the meatballs are done cook the onions then add to the pot. Serve over cooked rice.
