     Waldorf-Astoria Cake (Red Velvet)

Ingredients
1/2 cup Crisco
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1oz red food color - 1 oz water
2 Tbs cocoa
1 tsp salt
2 cup flour
1 cup buttermilk
 
1 Tbs vinegar
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup milk
1/4 flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup Crisco
1 stick oleo
1 tsp vanilla

Instructions
Cream 1/2 cup crisco & 1 1/2 cup sugar, add eggs, coloring, water and 1 tsp vanilla. Add cocoa, salt, 2 cups flour and buttermilk. Beat slowly, use own judgment on beating. Stir in vinegar and soda. (Do not beat in, but fold). Bake 30 minutes at 350 in 2 round pans.
Frosting- Cook together milk and 1/4 cup flour until thick. Add a little salt & cool. Beat 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup Crisco and oleo on high until creamy. Add cooled flour mixture and 1 tsp vanilla. Beat until fluffy.
