Cream butter; add sugar gradually. Cream until light and fluffy. Add unbeaten egg and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together dry ingredients, mix well.
Divide dough in half. To one half add fine nuts. Chill both parts. The one with the nuts roll into small balls and bake at 400 for 8 to 10 minutes.
The part without nuts roll out for cut out cookies. Bake at 400 for 6 min. When the cookies with the nuts are done, roll in powdered sugar, cool and roll in sugar again.
