     Babka - Holiday Raisin Bread

3 Whole eggs and 1 yolk
1/4 lb. Oleo or Butter
4 Cups Flour
3 Cakes Yeast
1 Cup Sugar
3/4 Cup Warm Milk
3/4 TSP Salt
1 TSP Vanilla
1/2 Box White Raisins

Dissolve yeast cakes in the warm milk. Add 1 cup flour and 1 tablespoon sugar and beat with spoon until thick and smooth. Cover with cloth and let rise until double in bulk.
Meanwhile add salt to the eggs and beat until thick. Add softened butter, sugar, vanilla, and raisins. Beat well with a wooden spoon until well mixed.
Add the flour and knead by hand until dough comes away from hand.
