Sally's Gingerbread and House Frosting (cement)

Category   Desserts - Breads
Sub Category   None

Ingredients
1/2 c. soft butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c, molasses
1/4 c. honey
2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cloves

1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
(for 4 small houses we doubled the above recipe)
6 egg whites
2 tsp. of cream of tarter
2 lbs. powdered sugar
(for 4 small houses we did 1 1/2 of the above recipe)

Instructions
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, honey, and molasses. Then add dry ingredients. Toward the end, work by hand (and you'll most likely have to work in some additional flour, as it's super sticky).
Once your dough is almost playdough-like, and not sticking to everything in sight, you can flour your counter, roll to desired thickness, and cut. For our gingerbread houses we rolled the dough rather thick.
Bake at 350 until desired doneness. For soft cookies it will take about 6 or 7 minutes and for our houses we did about 11 or 12 minutes.
FROSTING - mix egg whites and cream of tarter in bowl, then beat until stiff peaks form. Slowly add powdered sugar. Zip lock bags work well for applying the frosting - just cut a little corner off and the kids can go for it!
