     Angel Biscuits

Ingredients
2 tablespoons yeast
1/2 cup warm water (not hot)
1 1/3 cup buttermilk (room temperature)
5 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cup shortening
 
1/2 stick butter melted in Pyrex baking dish

Instructions
Put yeast in mug, add warm water and set aside.
Sift dry ingredients in large bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until the size of small peas.
Mix buttermilk with yeast then add to dry ingredients, tossing with a fork. Add small amount of flour and knead for a few minutes.
Lightly roll out to about 1 inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter and place in buttered baking dish. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 - 20 minutes.
