4 C dried pinto beans – Casserole Brand – choose lightest beans – dark ones are old. (sort and throw away any unsightly beans)
Cover with boiling water and let stand for 10 to 30 minutes.
Rinse and put in crock pot. Cover with boiling water. Add 2 or 3 slices of uncooked bacon. Turn on high, cover and let cook for
3½ hours or until tender. Stir every hour.
Add 4 tsp. salt, 1/3 C sugar. Let cook another 30 minutes.
Serve hot. Serving suggestions- with cornbread, with Taco Salad, with salsa or any Mexican dish.
