Heat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour 2(9 in) round baking pans. Beat cake mix, 1 cup pumpkin, milk, oil, eggs and 1 tsp. spice with mixer.
Pour into pans. Bake 28-30 minutes. Cool in pans 10 minutes. Remove to wire racks. Beat cream cheese until creamy. Add sugar, pumpkin and spice. Stir in cool whip. Cut each cake layer hortizonally in 1/2 with knife.
Stack on serving plate; spread cream cheese between layers. Drizzle with caramel topping and nuts.
