In a large soup pot add cut sausage, quartered new potatoes and green beans. Cover with enough water so potatoes cook without burning, about 2-3 cups. Season to taste. Real german sausage has enough pepper and garlic that you don't need to heavily season. Store bought Kielbasa Sausage does need more seasoning.
Quarter the head of cabbage and lay leaves on top of sausage mixture. Season again, lightly with salt and pepper. Cover with a lid and cook on medium-high for 15 minutes. Turn down to low and let simmer for as little as 30 minutes or as long as 2 hours. It's a meal you can make and forget about until you are ready to eat.
Add more water if necessary. I have used baking potatoes if I didn't have red potatoes but they are more starchy and will fall apart if you cook for a long time.
