     Butter Cream Icing

Ingredients
1/2 Cup Solid Vegetable Shortening
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine softened
1 tsp clear vanilla extract
4 cups sifted confectionary sugar (aprox 1 lb)
2 tbs milk
 

Instructions
In large bowl cream shortening and butter with electric mixer. Add Vanilla. Gradually add sugar one cup at a time, beat on medium till well mixed, scrape bottom and side of bowls several times.Icing should appear dry. Add in milk and beat until light and fluffy. Cover with damp towl until ready to use
For best results keep icing bowl in refrigerator when not in use. Refrigerate in an airtightcontainer. Icing keeps for up to 2 weeks
For a thinner icing add 2 tablespoons light corn syrup water or milk.
for pure white substitute butter for 1/2 cup butter flavored shortning.
