     Great Northern Beans & Ham

Preptime   2 hrs.

Ingredients
2 lbs. great northern beans
2 carrots
2 celery sticks
1 large onion (white or yellow)
6 garlic cloves
1 ham steak or 1 lb of ham meat or hocks
2-3 bouillon cubes
3 tea. oregano
1 tea. salt
 
2 tea. pepper
2 tea. chili powder
2 bay leaves
3 Tbl. Olive Oil

Instructions
In a large pot saute carrots, celery, onion(all diced), bay leaves, and salt for 6-8 min. Add garlic, diced ham, and seasonings. Saute a few more minutes.
Add 2 quarts of cold water, bouillon cubes, and rinsed beans. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat, cover, and simmer til beans are tender. Maybe 1-2 hours. Salt to taste.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with Cornbread and Fried Potatos
