Sift flour and soda. Cream shortening, salt and spices. Gradually add sugar and continue creaming. Add eggs, molasses and milk, blend thoroughly.
Chill at least one hour in refrigerator. Roll douch to 1/3 inch thck on a lightly floured board. Prinkle with sugar and gently press with rolling pin. Cut with floured 2 inch cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 about 12 minutes
