Cream together shortening, sugar, eggs, and
molasses. In another bowl, sift together all dry
ingredients. Stir dry ingredients into creamed
mixture until just combined.
Cover and refrigerate until very cold. Roll the
dough into several short cylinders, wrap in plastic
wrap, and return to refrigerator. Slice off as you
want to bake, sprinkling with sugar before baking.
Bake at 375 degrees for 7-10 minutes. Transfer to
wire rack to cool.
