     Sweet Sour Red Cabbage

Ingredients
5 cups shredded red cabbage
2 Tbls vinegar to boiling water
----
6 slices of diced bacon
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
salt and pepper
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup vinegar
 
1 onion thinly sliced

Instructions
Cook cabbage in boiling water. Do not overcook. Drain cabbage. Fry bacon until crisp and remove from pan. Save drippings. Mix sugar, salt, pepper and flour together. Add to bacon drippings. While stirring, add onions, water and vinegar. This will become thick. Add crisp bacon. Remove from stove & pour over cooked cabbage. Reheat if necessary before serving.
2 Tbls of vinegar helps the cabbage keep its color. NOTE- Mixture should completely cover all of the cooked cabbage.
This goes well with pork or ham.
