Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over
medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain and set
aside. In a 9x13 inch pan layer the lettuce
followed by the peas, green pepper, bacon,
cauliflower and celery.
In a small bowl combine the mayonnaise and the
sugar. Spread mixture over salad. Sprinkle cheese
over top.
A twelve-hour stint in the refrigerator makes all
the difference in this crowd-pleasing layered salad.
The mayonnaise dressing that 's spread over the top
trickles down, and all the flavors come together.
Another way of preparing this salad-
I changed this up a bit and now everyone asks me
to bring this to every function we ever have. I
layered it with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, frozen
peas, spread the dressing mixture over the frozen
peas (this is so much easier than trying to do it
the other ways), then sprinkled mashed boiled egg,
cover it with cheese and then put the bacon on
top. Cover and let it set for at least 4 hours.
The dressing thins and runs down onto the lettuce.
OMG..this is fantastic. -)
